Why Indonesia?
From a political perspective, Indonesia is the rotating presidency of the G20 summit in 2022 and will also serve as the rotating chair of ASEAN next year. Indonesia’s influence in Southeast Asia and the world is increasingly prominent. By holding the Indonesia International Emergency Exhibition, deepening the cooperation and exchanges with the local political and business circles in Indonesia will also have a positive and far-reaching impact on the exploration of all-round cooperation for Asian countries.
Geographically, Indonesia is the largest and most populous country in Southeast Asia, rich in natural resources and an important geographical location. Southeast Asia has been one of the most natural disaster-prone regions in the world, especially Indonesia, which has been hit by natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, landslides and mudslides over the past few decades. Improving disaster response capability is related to the national economy and people’s livelihood and long-term development. Indonesia and Southeast Asia have generally stable political situation, good economic growth prospects, large market potential, good business environment, and a booming domestic demand market for safety and emergency response.
From an economic point of view, Indonesia is the only country in Southeast Asia with a total GDP exceeding one trillion US dollars and an important economy in Asia. In 2021, the bilateral trade volume between China and Indonesia will exceed US$120 billion, a year-on-year increase of 58.6%, ranking first among ASEAN countries. In the context of the implementation of RCEP, the establishment of the Indonesia International Emergency Expo as an important exchange platform for regional cooperation will release more new momentum for China-India economic and trade cooperation.
